Melt beeswax in a double boiler. If you'd like a little color, add a drayon to the melting wax. While you are waiting for the wax to melt, wrap the candle wick around each pinecone leave a few inches of wick at the top and wrap it around the pine cone, all the way down to the base.
Add 3 drops of Christmas Spirit oil and 3 drops of Northern Lights Black Spruce (or any of your favorite oils). Dip the cones in the wax using tongs and place them on foil to dry. Put them in a basket or mesh satchel, add a bow, and voila, a delightful gift! Wax WarmersInstead of using the wax cubes, which contain who knows what kind of chemicals and only masks odors, you can use essential oils and diffuse them into the air with your wax warmer.
Fill the dish with water. Choose whatever essential oil you love the most or need the most. I chose peppermint so my house smells like Christmas. Peppermint oil also helps you focus and concentrate when it's diffused into the air. Add a few drops and swish around with your finger. Plug in and enjoy! This will evaporate so just be aware that you need to keep an eye on it and you will need to refill it after a few hours. The smell isn't quite as powerful as the wax cubes, but it definitely makes a home smell pleasant. |
Wash pine cones to clean off sap and any hitchhiking critters. Bake for an hour at 200 degrees on an aluminum foil covered baking sheet.
When pine cones are finished drop essential oils of your choice on them. Some great winter/holiday scents include: cinnamon bark, clove, cedarwood, nutmeg, organge, pine, frankincense, spruce, myrrh, juniper, and/or peppermint. Flavored ToothpicksFill the bottom of a glass jar with about ¼ inch fractionated coconut oil. For a mild flavor add 10 drops Cinnamon Bark Oil (for stronger flavor add more oil).
Place toothpicks in jar and let sit for at least eight hours or until toothpicks soak up oil. After oil is absorbed, lay out on wax paper and allow to dry for 24 hours. Put in a cute jar to give away! DIY Scented Wax CubesWax warmers are so popular right now but did you know you can make your own wax cubes in less than ten minutes for a fraction of the price? Making DIY scented wax cubes means you can choose any scent you want. Intrigued? Read on...
To make wax cubes for your wax warmer, you’ll need {wait for it} wax! You can use regular paraffin wax, beeswax, or soy wax. In addition to the wax, you’ll also need essential oils in any scent you choose, and a mold. You can buy a mold at your local craft store {in the soap and candle making aisle} or re-use a container from storebought wax cubes. To fill one mold {six spaces}, melt 1/4 pound of candle wax. Melt in a double boiler. Do not melt over direct heat. When the wax has melted completely, stir in 20 drops of essential oil, and pour it into the mold. Let the wax harden completely and remove from the mold. It’s as easy as that! The wax cubes would make a great gift for a friend or a teacher and you can customize the scent for the individual. |
